Ingredients

 Oil Mixture (1% Super fat)

  • 70g Coconut Oil
  • 490g Virgin Olive Oil 
  • 140g Castor 

Lye Mixture

  • 597g Water (80%)
  • 149g Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide (20%)

Instructions

Oil Mixture

  • Add all oils into a crock pot and begin heating on medium heat.
  • Make sure to not use a pot that has a non-stick surface, as it will cause a chemical reaction with the lye mixture.

Lye Mixture

  • Potassium Hydroxide and Sodium Hydroxide are dangerous chemicals and MUST be handled with care.
  • Always were gloves and eye protection when working with Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide 
  • In a separate bowl, create the Lye Mixture by adding the water and then slowly stirring in the Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide to the water
  • NEVER the reverse (adding water to the Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide can cause it spatter 
  • Stir Lye Mixture until the Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide is completely dissolved into the water
  • It is very important to make sure the Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide is completely dissolved and distributed equally in the water

Combine Mixtures

  • Slowly stir the Lye Mixture into the heated oil mixture, stirring constantly. 
  • Heat a mix with a stick blender until solution thickens, takes about 1 hour
  • Dilute mixture with water at a ration of 1 part mixture to 1.5 parts water
  • Turn heat off and allow to cool
  • Add 28.92g Essential Oil (2%) to mixture and stir thoroughly 
  • If soap mixture is too thin, a mixture of 20% salt water can be used to thicken soap to desired viscosity
